Book Signings, Book Sales, and Fun in the Sun

I’m getting ready to head to Deadwood, South Dakota for a couple of weeks of signing books, meeting friends and fans, plotting the fifth book in the series, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Black Hills with my family. Before I head out, I wanted to check in with you and let you know several things.

My Deadwood Schedule

Following is my schedule while I’m in Deadwood. If any of you are in the area, I’d love to say “Hi!” in person. I’m going to have some fun Better Off Dead posters to give away to the first twenty folks who make it to each signing, plus magnets, coasters, and bookmarks.

Deadwood Shorts: Boot Points is Available!

My newest short story (falls between book 3 and book 4 in the Deadwood Mystery series) called Deadwood Shorts: Boot Points is now available. You can find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo currently for just 99 cents. What is it about, you ask?

Deadwood Shorts - Boot Points

It’s not really about the boots … or is it?

BOOT POINTS is a set of short tales about Violet Parker’s purple boots. It is set in the story time between the third and fourth books in the Deadwood Mystery series. Each tale not only explains more of Violet’s history, but also shows the role each character plays in Violet’s life.

I have received over 78 wonderful reviews on Amazon so far, which has pushed me to the #1 spot for Top Rated in Mystery and in Ghost Horror! Thank you all for your support with Boot Points. Reviews are golden and with your help, this book has started off at a sprint right out of the gate.

Happy July

I hope you have a great July full of fun and adventure. For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, enjoy the sunshine. For those of you down south, stay warm.

I love reading your books and have read them all. I can’t wait till the next one is released. I only live about an hour away from Deadwood so it was a lot of fun reading about places I have been to. Thank you so much for the fun.

P.S. when will the new Jackrabbit junction be out.

    • AnnC says:

      Hi Rene,
I’m glad you enjoyed my books. Thank you for giving them a chance and sharing laughs with me. I’m about to put out the next Deadwood book. After this one, I’ll be writing Violet’s brother’s story. The next Jackrabbit Junction book will be out in 2015. I’m still deciding on dates and what comes next. I appreciate you writing to me!

      Take care,

I have read the first four books in your Deadwood series this week. I am hooked! I feel like Violet Parker is an old friend. I just love her character. I am now reading one of the short stories about her diary. These books are incredible! I am so glad I picked the first one up on my Kindle. Immediately after finishing I bought the rest of them. I will be marking down the days on my calendar until the 5th book comes out. Thanks so much for writing a fun mystery series! It is hard to come by books like these. You just can’t put them down!

    • AnnC says:

      Hi Amanda,
Thank you for reading my Deadwood series. I’m glad we share a sense of humor and that you got some chuckles and enjoyment from Violet’s crazy life. The newest book, #5–An Ex to Grind in Deadwood, will be out by Aug. 28th as an ebook. I hope you get some laughs from this fifth book in the series, as well. I appreciate you writing to me.
      Take care,

  3. Tracey says:

    Hi Ann,
Just wondering when the next book is coming out. Looking forward to reading more about Violet and her family and friends! This is a delightful series that I hope goes on for a long time!!! I love your sense of humor! :)

    • AnnC says:

      Hi Tracey,

Sorry for the delay in replying–we’re moving from Washington to Arizona and things have been crazy. The 5th Deadwood book (An Ex to Grind in Deadwood) will be out in early September of this year.

  4. Jan Hammer says:

OMG! You,’ve done it. Really, honestly and truly! They said it couldn’t be done… was an accepted fact in the Peoria, Illinois area!

Congratulations are in order for you, Ann Charles! Why?

Husband Don and I are polar opposites – I’m not sure which pole he is on. After 27 agonizing years trying to find books and movies we both enjoy, actually have discussions about and share hearty LOL moments, you DID IT. Yes, to you, amateur sleuth and real estate agent, you may officially add Social Chairman and Marriage Counselor.

We now enjoy the frequent trips to Chicago and other destinations. I would go so far as to say we LOVE being in an enclosed capsule for hours. Ahh, the good old days!!

    Thanks and keep them coming,

    Jan Hammer, aka
Wife, Mom, grandmother, retired Human Resources Recruiter, legal secretary, and yes, retired real estate agent.

    • AnnC says:

      Hi Jan,
Ha! And they said it couldn’t be done–LOL! I’m glad to add “Social Chairman” and “Marriage Counselor” to Violet’s titles, and I’m glad you enjoyed hanging out with Violet and her friends on the page with me, sharing laughs. Thank you for writing to me and making my Easter even more sweet. :)

  5. Liled says:

Just read the first Deadwood series, loved and want more! But what is going on at Barnes/Noble, they have all the series but the second one for my nook? Any strings you can pull , I bought the others they have but want to read them in order?

    • AnnC says:

      Hi Lilee,

I’m sorry, but as of the first of January, the 2nd book in the Deadwood series is in the Kindle select program on Amazon. So for 90 days, it is only on Amazon. If you don’t mind getting the second book off of Amazon, you can find it over there. I apologize for this inconvenience, but Amazon offered me a marketing deal that I couldn’t refuse since it was only for 90 days.

Thanks for giving my Deadwood series a try!

    • Marsha says:

I first discovered the entire series from a sale of the second book at B & N. They featured it on their Nook Book sales for $2.99. I devoured it and then bought the others. Look in the “books under $5 section if they still have it.

Ann do you ever come to the Washington, Dc area for a event or book signing?

    Melinda :)

  7. Marsha says:

I loved the Deadwood Mystery Series, I read all 4 in 2 weeks. I can’t wait for number 5. :)

  8. Kathy says:

I love reading about violet and I am looking forward to your 5th book. You are a very good writer and your stories are engrossing.
