NEWSLETTERS December Craziness

Oh my molies! (as my daughter likes to say) The temporary insanity that comes with the holiday season has been multiplied x10 in our house thanks to a book release and an upcoming trip to Florida. Lucky for our kids, they are good at scavenging for food because who on earth has time to make a meal when a book has to be born and shared with the world? Sam Lucky and I are thinking about training our four cats how to cook so that next year at this time the kids won’t even notice we are working away in our offices. It’s about time those four kitties start earning their room and board! Cat food doesn’t grow on trees … well, unless squirrel is on the menu.

I hope your December is going well and you’re finding some peace on earth here and there as well as spreading some goodwill where you can. This month I thought I’d share a bit of wisdom from Natalie Beals (of the Deadwood Mystery series) that she likes to share with Violet at this time of year:

“Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.”

Please be safe out there if you plan to DRINK and text/talk/drive/eat/hang Christmas lights/sit on Santa’s lap/grocery shop/flirt with cops/tie your shoes!

SW Florida for 2019 Christmas

I will be at the Punta Gorda library in Florida on Saturday, December 28th. I’ll start with a talk titled, “10 Common Questions for Fiction Writers,” then take questions, and end with signing/selling books. I’ll have some fun promo to giveaway for the newest Deadwood Undertaker book (A Long Way From Ordinary) that will be available as an ebook on December 28th. For those of you who hang out in the southwest corner of the Sunshine State over the holiday, it would be wonderful to see you there!

Deadwood 2020 Fan Party Weekend News

Dates: June 25th-28th, 2020 (Thursday through Sunday)
Location: Deadwood (and Lead), South Dakota

Yabba dabba do! We’re busy planning behind the scenes for the 2020 Deadwood Fan Party weekend and it’s going to be lots of fun. With the help of several awesome locals we are working on lining up some new events for those of you who can make it to Deadwood next summer.

Here’s a taste of a few events in the works:
* Book signing Chubby Chipmunk Hand-Dipped Chocolates (free chocolate boot if you buy a book).
* Book signing/Wine tasting at Miners & Merchants Trading Post (in Lead).
* Open-window bus tour via Boot Hill Tours of sights listed in Ann Charles’ books (narrated in part by Ann).
* Fan Party at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center, guest-starring the crew from Black Hills Paranormal Investigations.
* Paranormal Investigation in the dark at the Adams House with Black Hills Paranormal Investigations and Ann. (To purchase tickets, see below.)
* Haunted History walking tour of Deadwood with local resident historian, Kim Ferrel-Keehn, as your tour guide. Kim’s Facebook Site.

Adams House Paranormal Investigation:
If you’d like to join Black Hills Paranormal Investigations and Ann on a investigation of the historic Adams House, you must be able to go up and down stairs as well as stand for the duration of the tour. Also, no liquor is allowed on the premises; no drunk or disorderly conduct are allowed either as this is a 100+ year old museum house

Hotel Discount at the Holiday Inn Express in Deadwood
Even though the fan party will not be at the Holiday Inn Express in Deadwood this year, the hotel was still kind enough to give us a block of rooms at a discount during that weekend. Book 11 in the Deadwood Mystery Series: Devil Days in Deadwood
Violet and the whole crew will be back for more laughs, spooky adventures, and rocky rides. Look for this new full-length Deadwood Mystery novel in spring 2020!

Novella 3 in the AC Silly Circus Series: A Boatful of Rogues & Ruffians
Nora, Bruno, and some of the other Circus Series crew will be cruising out to sea on a floating Renaissance Festival (aka a boatful of rogues & ruffians). Stay tuned for this new novella to be available early Summer 2020.

Book 3 in the Deadwood Undertaker Series: Can’t Ride Around It
Clementine, Boone, Rabbit, and Hank will be back for more excitement in ol’ Deadwood. Sam and I are hoping to have this third book in the series out in Fall 2020.
