NEWSLETTERS December Craziness

Oh my molies! (as my daughter likes to say) The temporary insanity that comes with the holiday season has been multiplied x10 in our house thanks to a book release and an upcoming trip to Florida. Lucky for our kids, they are good at scavenging for food because who on earth has time to make a meal when a book has to be born and shared with the world? Sam Lucky and I are thinking about training our four cats how to cook so that next year at this time the kids won’t even notice we are working away in our offices. It’s about time those four kitties start earning their room and board! Cat food doesn’t grow on trees … well, unless squirrel is on the menu.

I hope your December is going well and you’re finding some peace on earth here and there as well as spreading some goodwill where you can. This month I thought I’d share a bit of wisdom from Natalie Beals (of the Deadwood Mystery series) that she likes to share with Violet at this time of year:

“Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.”

Please be safe out there if you plan to DRINK and text/talk/drive/eat/hang Christmas lights/sit on Santa’s lap/grocery shop/flirt with cops/tie your shoes!

If you have a half hour to kill while driving to your prepping your holiday dinner, driving to your relatives, escaping from the season’s craziness in the tub, or trying not to work, check out my interview from with the lovely Karina Kantas in the Author Assist Radio Show. Included is a short excerpt from Book 2 in the Deadwood Undertaker series, A Long Way from Ordinary, read by yours truly.

Onto this month’s newsletter. I have some fun tidbits to share with you, including:
* Links for pre-ordering A Long Way from Ordinary (Deadwood Undertaker Book 2), a new book by Sam Lucky and me!
* Information on how to sign up to be a Deadwood Prospector and help me promote Sam Lucky’s and my new book.
* My 2020 Traveling with Ann photo and desk calendar winners.
* December sale on the ebook version of In Cahoots with the Prickly Pear Posse.
* Details on my book signing in SW Florida on December 28, 2019.
* Information about my 2020 Deadwood Fan Party.
* FREE STUFF.
* And more!

NEW BOOK! Pre-order your ebook copy of A Long Way from Ordinary!

It’s alive!!! … Well, almost.

Sam and I have been working hard this fall to give you a wonderful present, the 2nd book in the Deadwood Undertaker series, A Long Way from Ordinary. You don’t want to miss the excitement happening in good ol’ Deadwood where greed and evil run the streets.

Pre-order your ebook copy now as a wonderful gift to yourself!

This ebook will be “live” and on your e-reader device on December 28th, which is my dear ol’ dad’s birthday. So, celebrate with us (and him) and enjoy a brand new adventure with Clementine, Boone, Rabbit, and Hank in “old” Deadwood.

NOTE: The print version will be available in mid-January.

A LONG WAY FROM ORDINARY

“There’s gold in them there hills!” … and something deadly, too.

Danger the likes Boone McCreery has never seen is brewing in the Black Hills. Fresh in from Santa Fe, he’s returned to Deadwood to seek justice for his uncle—and maybe to see about a girl.

Little did he know he’d be stumbling into a hornet’s nest the likes he’d never imagined. One thing’s for certain, though, the trouble he and his compadres chance upon deep in the trees is a LONG way from ordinary.

Kick up your spurs and enjoy another rip-roaring, wild ride with Boone, Rabbit, Clementine, and Hank through the pages of the second book in the Deadwood Undertaker series.

From the bestselling, multiple award-winning, humorous Deadwood Mystery series comes a new herd of tales set in the same Deadwood stomping grounds, only back in the days when the Old West town was young.

“A little razzle here, a little dazzle there, and you are transported back to Deadwood of the 1870’s. An eerie and well researched paranormal thriller!”
—C.M. Wendelboe, Spirit Road Mysteries

December SALE: In Cahoots with the Prickly Pear Posse (Jackrabbit Junction 5) ebook for only $1.99 on Amazon!

If you haven’t read this book and you have an Amazon Kindle reader or the Kindle app, now is a great time to grab it. In January, it will return to the normal $5.99 price.

The Morgan sisters are BACK …

When “Crazy” Kate Morgan learns that her sisters are the next targets on a killer’s to-do list, she’s hell-bent on chasing down trouble before it rides into Jackrabbit Junction.

The problem: The darn law dogs keep nipping at her heels, tossing her in the hoosegow, and sidetracking her hunt.
The solution: A posse—the pricklier the better.

If Kate can dodge this peck of pickles long enough to catch the killer, she can prove she’s not so “crazy” after all.

Special Guest Stars!!! Hanging out in Jackrabbit Junction in this book are Natalie Beals (the Morgan sisters’ cousin), Detective Cooper, and Ol’ Man Harvey from the USA Today bestselling Deadwood Mystery series. You don’t want to miss the heated hijinks happening down in the Arizona desert!

Have a wonderful Christmas with your family! You have given us so many gifts this year, it’s time you took a little break and enjoy!

  2. Vicki Howell says:

I stumbled across your books while my husband and I were staying at the 1899 Inn on our first ever trip to Deadwood. I skimmed through the first book in your Deadwood Mystery series and could instantly tell I was going to enjoy the book and we had a very long drive to our hone back in Texas. On our way out of town we stopped by the Chubby Chipmunk and bought my own copy and a bunch of chocolate 🙄🤷‍♀️ In two months time I have developed quite the Amazon Prime habit. There has been talk in my family of an intervention, all due to your books. I have read your whole Deadwood mystery’s series and the Jackrabbit Junction series and I am about to start the Dig Site series! That’s a whole lot of books considering I have a horse ranch to run, with a couple pot bellied pigs, 5 dogs and 6 cats, sprinkled in there and a husband and one kid still home (she’s a sophomore in college so she’s not much work though 🤣). I can’t remember when I have enjoyed reading this much. The last time was like… well NEVER! Can’t wait for book 11 of The Deadwood series!! ❤️

    • Ann Charles says:

Vicki, WOW–that’s a lot of books in two months! I LOVE it!!! Thank you so much for giving my books a chance and I’m glad you enjoy sharing laughs with me on the page. I hope you enjoy the Dig Site series, too, which stars Violet’s brother (and if you’ve read Jackrabbit Junction #3, then you’ll recognize Dr. Juan Garcia, as well). OH MY MOLIES, you have a lot of animals to tend to every day. I love that you’re an animal lover. My daughter and I are, too, and she is planning to be a vet, so I’ll get to be surrounded by animals all of my life I’m hoping. I’m plugging away on Deadwood #11 with plans to release it this spring, while working with my husband at the same time on Deadwood Undertaker #3 (the pre-cursor to the Deadwood Mystery series). Maybe I’ll get to say “Hi!” some day in person and thank you for reading my books. I really appreciate you taking the time to write to me here. You keep reading and taking care of your family (humans and animals) and I’ll keep writing! <3 Ann
