Happy February!
I’m writing to you from Rapid City, South Dakota this time. Unfortunately, I’m not here having fun, although the people I’m around every day are friendly and wonderful. I’m here because my mom had some health issues that led to severe infections and she ended up in the hospital’s ICU. She is making slow progress back to health, but it’s a roller coaster every day with some moments looking quite bleak. Many of you have probably experienced something similar to this with a loved one, so you can relate. I’m looking for rainbows and bits of joy in the thick of it all, and my family has been flooded with well wishes, good karma thoughts, and prayers. I can’t thank all of those who have shared positivity and kindness enough.

Cut Out Cookies
Here is another yummy recipe from the out-of-print 2020 Ann Charles MOON THE COOK cookbook, which Mark and Michelle Davis helped put together.
This month, Mark, Michelle and I decided to share a recipe from Addy & Layne Parker, Violet Parker’s children in the Deadwood Mystery series–Cut Out Cookies. Yummmm, cookies! I know the picture for this recipe has Valentine’s Day cookies and that’s in the past, but you can make whatever shape you want or just create circle-ish blob shapes that fit nicely in your mouth.
NOTE: This cookbook sold out in 2020, so for those of you who were unable to buy a copy from my Ann Charles online store before it was gone, now you’ll have access to some of the great recipes via my monthly newsletters.
Wrap Up
I may be in South Dakota, but Sam is at home and working his fingers off to make it closer to the end of book 5 in the Deadwood Undertaker series, Hip Deep in Bad Company. You’re going to love the next chapter in Rabbit’s, Boone’s, Clementine’s, and Hank’s story!
I’m trying to write in between life’s calamities, and I’m making progress little by little. There will be more Deadwood Mystery series and Dig Site series tales this year as well as a Deadwood Undertaker book. For those of you who enjoy the Morgan sisters and their Jackrabbit Junction follies, I will work on their next book slowly but surely with the hope of releasing it in 2025.
I appreciate your patience as we take care of our family in between telling fun stories.
