Yes! Woo hoo! Happy monkey dancing!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for a year to find out what happens next in the Deadwood Mystery series.
Finally, a certain author (which may or may not be me, but if it is, I have a good excuse … grrrr, COVID-19) has finished dilly-dallying in story land and finished the next book about Violet’s not-so-normal life. Sweet! Bring me a big pretzel and a six-pack of Coke and then leave me alone–I have a book to read.
Actually, I’ve read Violet’s newest book a “few” times, so I’m going to take a little break now from Deadwood (and leave Sam Lucky behind to hang out with Rabbit, Boone, Clem, and Hank while they have a rowdy, rip-roarin’ time in the Black Hills).
So, what’s next?
Watch out Jackrabbit Junction, Arizona! I’m coming down to chug some drinks at The Shaft and find out what kind of trouble those rambunctious Morgan sisters have stirred up under the skull-burning desert sun.
Speaking of sunshine … summer is here in Arizona which means it’s our turn to melt around the edges. We’ll take a break from the heat soon and head up to Deadwood, South Dakota for the 9th Annual Deadwood Fan Party. We’re already brainstorming and planning the big 10-year party, so if you can’t make it this year, there will be more fun to come in 2022!
Read on for all sorts of links, molasses cookies, and a FREE autographed bookmark!
Happy June,
Ann
What beta readers have to say about Violet’s 12th book, NEVER SAY SEVER IN DEADWOOD:
“I can’t tell you how much I loved this book! It just keeps getting more exciting with every new book in this series.” ~Brandy, Beta Reader Extraordinaire
“There I was laughing out loud through the wee hours. There were so many mighty fine zingers in this one!” ~Mary, Beta Reader Rockstar
All Violet Parker wants is a day off. Better yet, just a “normal” day. But things never go as planned, especially in Deadwood.
Someone—or rather something—broke into the local taxidermy shop and took bites out of the critter displays before racing off into the dark. But this is no random crime and Violet knows it. With a bounty on her head and troublemakers zeroing in on her, she soon goes from being the hunter to the hunted.
“I totally loved Doc before this book, but I love him even more!” ~ Elaina, Ace Beta Reader

What’s a Deadwood Deputy?
In short, you help me to tell others about this new book via reviews, social media, and that old-fashioned thing we do called “talking.” Tell your friends, your family, your second cousin once removed, your dental hygienist, your Uber driver, your favorite waitperson, the loud drunken rowdies in the booth behind you at your favorite restaurant, those construction workers holding up traffic in work zones, your enemy’s enemy (which is supposed to then be your friend, I think), and anyone else who could use a good laugh and a dose of fun.
To sign up to be a Deputy, send an email to [DeadwoodDeputy@gmail.com](mailto: DeadwoodDeputy@gmail.com) with NSS Deputy in the Subject line.
Include your physical mailing address, so I can send you a commemorative item and include you in the drawing for a fun prize at the end of July.
I will send instructions and some promotional quotes to use after July 4th, but you don’t have to wait to share the news about Violet’s latest adventure in the Black Hills. Grab your bullhorn and start hooting and hollering about the book now!
For those of you coming to my 2021 Deadwood Fan Party Weekend from June 24-27th, we are in the process of setting up times and dates and details.
Don’t forget to RSVP for the Saturday evening fan party because space is limited. Please click here to make your reservation. You will receive a confirmation after you hit the Submit button.

Here is another yummy recipe from my 2020 Ann Charles MOON THE COOK cookbook, which Mark and Michelle Davis helped me put together.
This month, Mark and Michelle chose to share the molasses cookies recipe from Ol’ Man Harvey (from the Deadwood Mystery series).
NOTE: This cookbook sold out last fall, so for those of you who were unable to buy a copy from my Ann Charles online store before it was gone, now you’ll have access to some of the great recipes via my monthly newsletters.
It’s that time again! I have a fun new bookmark to share with you and I’m more than happy to autograph it, drop it in an envelope, and mail it off to you no matter where you live in this big beautiful world.
To receive your bookmark in the mail IN LATE JULY (after the Deadwood festivities are done and I drag my tired caboose home), all you need to do is email me at [DeadwoodDeputy@gmail.com](mailto: DeadwoodDeputy@gmail.com) with the Subject: Never Bookmark.
DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR PHYSICAL MAILING ADDRESS.

In addition to my Ann Charles Store accessible from my website, I also have some fun products available over on my Ann Charles Zazzle store. Posters, mugs, face masks, keychains, T-shirts, and more! Jackrabbit Junction Mystery Series …
Now that Violet’s 12th book is finished, I have an idea for a fun Christmas novella staring the Jackrabbit Junction crew. I also plan to write the next full-length story (Book 6) in the Jackrabbit series. Stay tuned for more on this as I hit the keys after I return from our Deadwood escapades.
Dig Site Series …
There will be more books in this series, I promise. I’ve been watching a lot of shows on the Maya people and history, soaking it all up, daydreaming about what might happen next down in Mexico. I hope to finally be able to fit the 3rd Dig Site book into my schedule after I take a break from Jackrabbit Junction.
Deadwood Undertaker Series …
Sam Lucky and I are working on Book 4, THE BACKSIDE OF HADES. Life has slowed us up a little, but we’re still plowing forward. Stay tuned for more release date estimates later this summer.
Deadwood Mystery Series …
There will be more of crazy tales about Violet and her friends coming in 2022. I am building the story plot and writing the rough draft of the first chapter for when I return to modern day Deadwood for more supernatural adventures next year.
Thank you for continuing to cheer me on as I stare up at the stars and wonder if I’m making up all of these stories or channeling them from a parallel universe.
Until next time …
Ann
